The World Blessing

This video has become a real blessing to us, and we wanted it to be one of the first things we ever shared here.

It’s a song built around the ancient words of blessing — the Lord blessing and keeping us, His face shining upon us, giving us peace. That very scripture was given to the YMCA back in 1976, the year it opened, and it’s sat in the chapel ever since. We returned to it again and again over the years — it became, for us, the truest description of what God’s blessing actually looks like.

The second half carries it further still — a blessing not just for us, but for our children, and our children’s children, on and on. That stopped us in our tracks. We are completely linked to one another, across time and across difference.

Then we found this particular version of the song, and it summed up everything we believe. We’re a mixed-race family, and when we look at this world — all its cultures, its colours, its faiths — we don’t see a problem to be managed. We see something extraordinary. This song gathers people together to celebrate exactly that.

Diversity at its best…if the world could look and sound like this, what a wonderful place it would be 🙏🫶
